NBC Host Asked Why a Good God Would Allow Terrorism — Her Answer Is Spot-On

Kathie Lee Gifford, one of the co-hosts of NBC’s “Today,” said this week God “is sovereign in all things” — even after the deadly terror attack in New York City on Tuesday.
During an interview with CBN News, she described the horrific assault, which left eight dead and about a dozen others injured, as the “antithesis of Jesus.”
“If I didn’t believe that God is sovereign in all things, I would have been in the looney bin years ago. His ways are not our ways, his thoughts are not our thoughts,” Gifford, who is a Christian, said. “We have to trust that he has it in control, even when everything seems out of control.”
The outspoken NBC host then gave the perfect answer to the age-old question of how could a good and loving God allow evil to exist. It all boils down to freedom.
“He is a loving God,“ Gifford said. ”Terrorism did this, not God.”
“People say to me all the time, ‘How could a loving God allow this to happen?’ And I always say, ‘Well, a loving God loved us enough to give us freedom of will,’” she added.
Those who truly know and love God, she explained, would not carry that “kind of evil in their heart towards any other human being,” speaking of 29-year-old attacker Sayfullo Saipov, an immigrant from Uzbekistan who entered the United States in 2010.
“What you’re seeing is freedom of will,” Gifford added. “And some people choose to use their freedom to harm and to hurt — the exact opposite of Jesus.”
