Should Hollywood Awards Season Be CANCELLED Over Sexual Assault Allegations?

After a whirlwind couple of months filled with allegations of sexual abuse aimed at Hollywood elite, there are some who are saying that awards season should be cancelled, because now is not the time for the industry, and the people in it, to be “patting themselves on the back.”
Kevin Spacey, star of Netflix’s hit series “House of Cards,” came out as gay early Monday morning, following allegations of sexual misconduct years ago.
The revelation came at midnight via Twitter and only a few hours after “Star Trek: Discovery” actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of making “an advance” toward him when he was only 14-years-old.
The alleged incident happened many years ago, Rapp told BuzzFeed News, when during a party then 26-year-old Spacey attempted to “seduce” him. Rapp said it was clear Spacey “was trying to get with me sexually.”
After apologizing for the encounter — which Spacey said he doesn’t recall — he addressed another matter that’s been haunting him for years: his sexuality. Spacey admitted to having been in romantic relationships “with both men and women.”
The well-known actor’s apology — and personal admission — comes after dozens of women have accused disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment, assault, and even rape.
In mid-October, actor Sam Elliott described the fallout over the Weinstein accusations as “the best thing that’s happened to Hollywood in a long time.”
“How can it not?” he said during the Variety Screening Series. “Once you’ve given that kind of strength that this unveiling has given to a given population — the women of the world — how can you take it back?”
